Review of Alien³ (1992) by Phillip D — 11 Jul 2015
Generally, I am not a huge fan of this genre, bloated as it is by numerous and unnecessary AVP crossovers. That being said, I know a classic when I see one. Alien is the mother of them all and it doesn't disappoint.
This is Ridley Scott at his absolute best as he orchestrates a thrill ride through stunning science fiction vistas and classic space alien horror while building an undertone of the artistic genius that was fully expressed in Blade Runner.
Alien is tense, bold and impressive even by today's standards, successfully tapping into the audience's deepest fears and anxieties. When Ridley gets it right, the man is a genius.
