Review of Alien (1979) by Afonso A — 18 Jul 2018
There's not much to say that hasn't already. This film is as close to perfect as a film can be. Everything worked immaculately. What the movie does so well is that there's not main character for at least the first half of the film.
As an audience, our attention is on the crew as a whole, not just one member. But as the film progresses, and shit starts to hit the fan, our attention is focused on the one in charge, Ripley. I just can't overstate how perfect this film is.
The screenplay, the direction, the design of the alien, the pseudo-sexual imagery, everything. Perfect.
