Review of Across the Universe (2007) by Sam J — 05 Nov 2018
Taymore's psychedelic visionary film has beautifully portrayed the livelihoods of people who lived in a time of inexplicable war and injustice yet liberty and virtuosity. Each actor has a presence and between their soft lullabies and powerful songs they grasp your attention throughout moments of love, lust, passion and destruction until the very end; where we come to understanding of our history as human beings.
To some this film may seem inconsistent or a chaos of colours and music but to the eye of the creative this film is a unrecognised masterpiece.
