Review of A Star Is Born (1976) by Dave D — 11 Dec 2007
A remake of a remake. Elvis Presley was the first choice for Kristofferson's part. The colonel and his assholiness decided he didn't want Elvis linked to drugs in any way. Kristofferson cleaned himself up because of this film and we all know what happened to Elvis the very next year.
One of my favorite songs is in this movie and it would have been nice to hear Elvis sing "Crippled Crow". The movie itself, has it's moments. Streisand and Kristofferson are excellent. Also, the soundtrack is one of my favorite albums to this day.
