Review of A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014) by Crispin B — 21 Jan 2015
I enjoyed the pace of this warm-hearted and very much underrated film. MacFarlane was an excellent romantic lead (playing the ideal man from a female rather than a macho male point of view) and the humour was often outrageously funny and well paced.
MacFarlane's witty 21st century observations on 19th century mores were a hoot and the film is beautifully shot with many haunting images of the Arizona desert. Forget the comparisons with Blazing Saddles, this is in its own terms a thoroughly enjoyable and intelligently funny film with a charming story and attractive acting from all concerned.
