Before you pass judgment on this movie, watch it at least twice. This film is played so straight and the humor so dry that you will miss a lot of it during the first viewing. Only during the next few viewings do you start to get all the hilarious jokes that are just under the surface, and everywhere in this movie.
Add to it characters that are bizarre but genuinely worth caring about, with music and performances by the actors themselves, and you have a great movie.
