Review of A Marine Story (2010) by Roxanne R — 12 May 2011
A very good film about a decorated US Marine officer from a military family (her father was a 2 star General) who is unexpectedly discharged from active duty. When she returns to her conservative hometown, Alexandra Everett (Dreya Weber) struggles to readjust to civilian life, but agrees to mentor a troubled 20 year old named Saffron (Paris Pickard) who has to enlist in the military in order to straighten out her life.
Alexandra, having been a Major in the Marines, is the no-nonsense role model figure that Saffron badly needs. During this journey, Alexandra must find the courage to face her own fears...Despite being a low budget film, I found it interesting, throught provoking and a motion picture that covers a very contentious issue of DADT.
.In the dvd special features, don't miss President Obama's signing the DADT repeal- history in the making! I definitely recommend it, especially for Active and Reserve military personnel..
