Review of A Love to Hide (2005) by Wizard W — 30 Jan 2007
A young gay couple and their Jewish friend face persecution from the Nazis in 1940s Paris. Philippe (Bruno Todeschini) and Jean (Jeremie Renier) hide their love from both their families and the occupying Germans.
When Jean's childhood sweetheart, a Jew, shows up after her family is killed, the two take her in. But now their secret life as members of the "third sex" becomes harder to conceal, especially from Jean's Nazi-sympathizing family.
This film was so much more than just a "gay themed" film. It was moving in both a personal and dramatic way - dealing with love, friendship, duty, family, jealousy and the struggle against evil.
The film also deals with the Nazi persecution of homosexuals.
