Review of A Dark Song (2016) by Carlos I — 27 Nov 2017
With a dark mood and tone, this film is about a spell ritual lasting weeks, that turn into months. The entire house is drawn over as part of the ritual, and details of the magic geometry are shown with care, so that while we don't get to see much writing in the dark spellcaster's books,we get to see the translation from page to surface.
It's disquieting to follow along with the characters as they face their frustrations, and becomes intriguing and a little satisfying when the world beyond slowly begins opening within the confines of the house.
