Review of A Coffee in Berlin (2012) by Nathan M — 28 Oct 2014
A Coffee In Berlin feels like a German, Woody Allen film. Most of this doesn't feel very fresh, even if lead actor Tom Schilling is really good in his role. We've seen a lot of "delayed adolescence" films, and we've seen a lot better ones.
What really makes this world hard to be in is how obnoxious the supporting characters are. Yes, it makes Niko seem more likable, but I didn't want to be around these people any longer. I can't imagine any American viewers getting a lot of this movie, so I would just skip it.
