Review of 2016: Obama's America (2012) by Angela B — 22 Oct 2012
I was skeptical of this movie because it was billed as an "anti-Obama documentary." I try to be as fair as the next person and give him the benefit of the doubt. This documentary shed light on his background and ideology in a very classy and respectful way.
The theater was crowded, and I was really glad to have had the chance to see this movie. D'Souza paints a compelling picture of a boy who was raised with a third-world anti-colonial view of how the world should operate, and it really provided insight into the ideologies and dreams that he has for the future of this country.
D'Souza illustrates his points by using a variety of voice and video clips of Obama himself, telling the story in his own words. In addition to that, D'Souza interviews Obama family members and traces his own steps in all the various countries Obama has lived in, providing cultural insight that influenced all of his major (and minor) decisions as President.
