Review of 13 Assassins (2010) by Tamatai N — 02 Aug 2011

Dark, raw, gritty and extremely intense, this is Takashi Miike on probably the finest form of his career. 13 Assassins is an epic, blood-drenched spectacle which highlights the horrific things some men must do for the greater good.

Seriously one of the greatest samurai films ever made (complete with one of the longest and most jaw-dropping battle scenes in cinema history), this is probably my favourite movie of 2011 so far...and it'd have to be one hell of a movie to top this.
