Review of 10 Days in a Madhouse (2015) by Isbrook L — 20 Nov 2015
10 Days In A Madhouse is an incredibly evocative and unique drama. With an impressively faithful to Nellie Bly's book written script the film shines as one of the most intriguing true story movie to date.
The film itself has its own rough edge to it (budget constraints?) that adds to the surrealness. The violence in the movie that Nellie Bly witnesses and is subjected to is so real it may be hard for anyone with lingering abuse issues to watch.
The 10 days journey seems longer as Nellie, drugged, freezing and surrounded by real mentally ill people, losses track of time. Overall, the film challenges the entire system where almost anything could be cause enough to imprison a woman for life as a "lunatic".
