Review of Evil Bong (2006) by Jason D — 03 Aug 2009
Honestly, I'm surprised the concept of a killer bong did not arise sooner in the world of film. No surprise; Charles Band leads the way (along with the resurrection of his Full Moon company) in bringing us Evil Bong as a group of stoners come about a mysterious bong they ordered that gets them super-high.
Turns out, the bong (perfectly voiced by a ghetto-fied black woman) is evil and takes each toker to a supernatural strip club world made up of nothing but beautiful strippers and Full Moon characters (Demonic Toys, Gingerdead Man, Tim Thomerson, Phil Fondacaro, Bill Mosesly, etc) where they suffer some silly death.
It's up to the original bong's owner, Tommy Chong, of course, to help save the day, which he does and everyone comes back to life...except for Chong. For the most part, this film is alright. You would think that with a story like that, it would be more entertaining, but alas, it actually has boring moments, not to mention scenes of extremely bad acting.
This movie is recommended purely for Full Moon/Charles Band enthusiasts or stoners.
