Review of The Bride Wore Black (1968) by Matthew M — 20 Jun 2009
During an introduction to this movie it was described as an ode to Hitchcock and it definitely lives up to that. It has twists and turns as the viewer comes to understand why the main character is finding and killing a series of seemingly random men, but it fails in it's execution to really be a thriller due to poor pacing and ugly camera work.
It's a little bit boring in parts, but the ending is an interesting take on just how dedicated the Bride is to her quest for revenge. Tarantino may have stolen some of the premise for Kill Bill from this movie, but he absolutely made the superior film.
