Review of Tampopo (1985) by Steve G — 06 Aug 2007
One of my favorite movies of all time, I randomly saw it back in the mid '90's on Bravo, late at night. A delightful offbeat look at food and sex, it satirizes the quest movie, the ensemble film, As Goru, played by an actor with an uncanny resemblance to Gregory Peck, and Tampopo, played by the director, Juzo Itami's wife embark on a quest to make Tampopo the greatest noodle chef in Tokyo.
Along the way, we meet an interesting cavalcade of characters, including a tribe of homeless gourmets, a millionaire whose life Tampopo saves, and many other interesting peripheral characters.... I love this movie!!!
