Why the five star rating you ask? Because like all of Jacques Tati's movies this one's a childhood favourite as well as a must-see classic. Compared to Tati's later films "Les Vacances.

." is the one most closely centered around its main character, Monsieur Hulot. I remember being ceaselessly amused by all the bizarre little incidents Tati gets his character into, and then later beginning to understand that it's not only the character-based comedy but also a lot of brilliant formal aspects that make this film so unique and entertaining.

This review of Monsieur Hulot's Holiday (1953) was written by on 14 Mar 2008.

Monsieur Hulot's Holiday has generally received very positive reviews.
