Review of Honeymoon (2014) by Laurence D — 16 Jul 2015
What a surprise! I was expecting yet another Grade B cabin-in-the-woods horror flick, but was pleased to experience a really very entertaining little low budget Indie-style film instead. The direction was decent, photography pretty darn admirable, and a reasonable re-working of a tired alien abduction schtick.
While Ms. Leslie is no Sigourney Weaver, she manages to be convincing enough, even with a script that descends into boring here and there. The only real downside for me was the musical score, for which a five-year-old could have done a better job using a toy xylophone and drum.
Best and scariest scene for me was Rose's solution for "hiding" her hubby from the unseen aliens. All in all, a refreshing twist on several tired plots.....Would like to see another Janiak effort: next time with some decent spooky music and sound effects to round it off.
