Review of Harlan County U.S.A. (1977) by Michael T — 11 Aug 2008
What an outstanding movie! An incredible story, hard to believe it is true. And it was directed, and produced by women! I have wanted to see this film for a long time so I pleased that I finally saw it.
It really left an impression on me. I was very impressed to see the county all rally together; the old women especially moved me. They had lived through a terrible blood bath regarding the mines in the 1930's and didn't want to see it repeat.
It was also very scary, to see how quickly violence became the solution for many, men and women alike.
