Review of Garden State (2004) by Jacob F — 09 Aug 2011
This film represents for me something more than a film. I watched this, fairly late at night, and decided it was the best movie ever. The next week for so after lauding to whoever would listen the qualities of this flick I felt like watching it again. But then I though, 'what if it's not so good.' And for the last few years I've avoided re-watching the film, and probably will do so for the rest of my life. It now can't live up to how I remember it.
This is a charming directorial debut by Zack Braff, (who also wrote and starred), which follows your basic romantic comedy arc - but with bright colours and interesting set pieces through out. The film is both funny and emotionally touching - and refreshingly different.
