Review of For the Bible Tells Me So (2007) by Kath T — 03 Oct 2008
An intelligent and sensitive look at the serious consequences of biblical literalism, focusing on GLBT people, but also its long-term connections to racism, sexism, etc etc through the ages. Features stories from several high profile families, as well as commentary from theologians and academics.
It also acknowledges the key issue of homophobia's basis in misogyny and patriarchy. This is preaching to the choir for some of us, but unfortunately it's still news to most of the world. An important documentary.
