Review of Reversal of Fortune (2003) by Ryan S — 02 Jul 2010
Wealthy aristocrat hires a Harvard law professor to defend his appeals case after he's convicted for attempting to murder his wife, based on a true story. Jeremy Irons is arresting in his portrayal of Claus Von Bulow; charming, nebulous, and intimidating.
His performance absolutely steals the film, which is still rather stellar for a briskly-paced courtroom drama that incorporates great use of flashback for the investigation. At times, the mystery aspect becomes almost Hitchcockian in its edge-of-your-seat portrayal, and all the more interesting to watch.
