Review of Nico and Dani (2000) by Micky N — 02 Sep 2004
Nico and Dani (2001) ? This is the story about two boyhood friends, now 16, who moved apart, but arrange summer visits. When Nico comes to visit Dani, one of their fun activities is to help each other get off. Everything goes fine until Dani decides that Nico is the one for him. Unfortunately, Nico?s got his eye on a couple of girls in Dani?s hometown. Tension builds between the two until it threatens to destroy their friendship.
The movie was filmed in Spain, where teenagers have considerable more freedom than their over-protected counterparts in the U.S. This film is remarkably candid, sensitive, and humorous. The writing is honest and the acting is quite believable. Overall, the film is excellent.
WARNING: This film doesn?t flinch during the telling. There are scenes in this movie that will steam up your video screen. Have a clean, lint-free cloth ready. ;).
