Review of Lovely Molly (2011) by Greg T — 03 Jul 2012
A splendidly creepy lo-fi horror, all creaking floorboards, grainy found-footage & horrific revelations, LOVELY MOLLY is a worthy successor to THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. Both desperately sad and deeply disturbing, the story of Molly, a young woman who may be going mad or may be living in a very haunted house, is filled with ambiguities and frustratingly (thankfully?) withheld reveals.
The atmosphere is one of relentless foreboding, the chills are real and lasting, and it has a humdinger of an ending that worked for me but will probably irritate many. Regardless, a serious, and seriously impressive horror film.
