Review of Ghosts of Cité Soleil (2006) by Ty H — 06 Feb 2008
I guess I knew Haiti was in some deep shit, like, always, but it really took this movie to show me exactly how deep. this place is so close to us and is basically like the favelas of Rio or everycityinafrica.
Pretty intense documentary that takes us in close on two brothers that help lead the Chimere, a violent organization paid by then President Aristide to "control" dissenters.
While not the best-made documentary ever, it accomplishes its goal.
Heartbreaking stuff.
