Review of Boarding Gate (2007) by Gabriela R — 17 Mar 2008
Assayas seems to have picked an S&M scene in his Demonlover movie and made it into a murder mystery fantasy. The film falls short of acomplishing a thriller. The dialogue is predictable and bland. There is no real emotion to the background of either love affairs except for Asia Argento's "Sandra".
She is fantastic. She's one of the best and most underrated actresses of our time. She's brilliant and its a shame that she's not cast in better roles. The film is too long with lackluster plot.
Even Michael Madsen, who is a fantastic actor, could not really relate to his character. The story has some interesting scenes between Lester's wife and Sandra. Unfortunately, they both end up portraying love sick meek women.
Asia however, could play a dvd player and make it sexy and interesting. Conclusion: wait to see it on DVD.
