Review of Anvil! The Story of Anvil (2008) by Rob R — 23 Jan 2010

Perhaps more heartbreaking than it is uplifting, but truly a wonderful film to behold. I was about to write a diatribe about why it's unfair to compare the film to Spinal Tap, perhaps because I felt so much for Lips and Robbo and the hard work and love they put into their, alas, hobby. But ultimately the similiarities in both band's situations and the more I give it thought, the more event connections I recognise - lost in Prague/backstage, poor tour managers, even a goes up to 11!

But as a film experience, I can't remember a time when I've so wanted the protaganists to succeed and I was on the edge of my seat before we found out whether they got more than 5 audience members in Tokyo.
