High Priestess of Soul indeed, and an excellent documentary. Nina Simone was haughty and imperious, cruel and difficult, but she was a brilliant and incomparable pianist, singer, and performer. Her righteous anger at the plight of African-Americans in mid-20th century America was at the root of her deeply affecting music.
