Review of Urbania (2000) by Tyler M — 12 May 2014
If you can stay awake, you have me respect... That's only if you can stay awake.
The Story: It's a surreal look at urban legends as a man wanders through the city at night...That's it...Honestly, there's virtually no story here, and the little bit of story that is here, is incoherent and boring. This is an hour and forty minutes of my life that I will never get back... It's got a good gritty documentary style to it, but it's not enough to make this one worth sitting through.
The Cast: Dan Futterman... Never heard of him? Yeah, me either... He gives a pretty good performance, and his character has a hefty amount of complexity, but he alone can't save such a boring story. Everyone else in the film is pretty much meaningless, adding only minimal support.
One to Five Scale: 1.
It's a boring, incoherent, character study... Avoid at all costs.
Tyler.
