Review of Trash Humpers (2010) by Aisha A — 29 Sep 2012
Yet again Harmony Korine comes up with another film which is distressing in its own unique way.
Gummo still tops it, this films is less darkly disturbing and more like "was I supposed to watch that?".
This film, just as Korine's Julien Donkey-Boy, concentrates on a few characters. Gummo had more characters and didn't follow any one character too long. Gummo had a lot of character vignettes where as Trash Humpers had vignettes mostly of the same few characters.
I was facinated every step of the way with this film. There is no other film like it, simple, low budget content that keeps you stuck and craving more. My favorite parts are not focused on our elderly subjects, but the scenes of minor charactors rambling on aboout this and that. If you listen to the words and pay attention to the whole scene, background and all, there is a fantastic humor only captured by a great like Harmony Korine.
