Review of The Immigrant (2013) by Tyler S — 16 Aug 2014
When acting is this good its hard to say anything bad about a film. Marion Cotilard is so damn good here. She plays an immigrant from Poland who comes to the United States with her sister in order to get freedom from the war in here country.
In this early 20s period peice, she is granted freedom in America with the help of Joquain Phoenix who runs a prostitution ring with girls. She shames her self in order to get money to get her sister to America.
You see the sadness in her eyes it's so believable. Phoenix has crazy good emotion here and he's very troubled. The emotions by the characters are so real and painful. Jeremy Renner is here and he plays a magician and the love interest of Cotilard.
The three all are different but are connected. A tale of survival and sorrow with flawless acting.
