Review of Sweet Charity (1969) by Tanya P — 30 Jun 2007
The musical version of Fellini's 'Nights of Cabiria.' Shirley MacLaine makes the main character an innocent idealist (unlike the angry Masina of the original) who only wants to be loved. Decadent Fosse dance sequences, Ricardo Montalban and Sammy Davis Jr.
, and New York City in all its glory. Loads of fun, even with the sad ending. I used to walk around the city sometimes running "Today I feel like New York is my personal property" through my head: a good song and a good feeling.
