Review of Purple Rain (1984) by Matthew W — 11 Jun 2008
A spectacular 80's pop musical.
A film that encompasses the 80's.
Corny...yes, but theres something truly special here. At its heart is a young and talented man, with a passion for music, his father a product of domestic violence, the anger excreted through the pain of life is transformed into a truly passionate musical vision, the film that has been lam barded for it's lacking in all the key components of film-making, it makes up for it with a incredibly emotional final performance of the song 'purple rain'. look past the 80's syrup to find a truly human story that all can relate to.
