Review of Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy (2010) by Johnathon W — 03 Feb 2018
Superb documentary on the "Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise, covering every movie (except the remake, which is a good thing) and even the TV series. The filmmakers do a great job getting as many of the actors & crew who involved, who are as candid as possible.
Wes Craven is especially great, explaining where he got the idea and his views on the other movies that didn't involve him (let's say he's not a fan of a few of them). You can tell the makers are fans of the series, but honest about it's faults as well (as shown in the commentary track), and nevertheless give a great 'warts & all' look at one of the great horror franchises of all time.
The one caveat is that at nearly 4 hours, still is not a documentary for someone new to the series. However, if you are a fan, this is a must watch, as it tells you everything you wanted to know (and not know) about this classic franchise.
