Review of JCVD (2008) by James G — 24 Mar 2011
This is Van Damme's best role ever. The writing was great, the cinematography was great, and Van Damme's acting was amazing. This is not the typical martial arts movie, in fact, this isn't a martial arts movie at all.
Van Damme plays an out-of-work actor who gets caught in the middle of a hostage situation and can't be the hero because this isn't a movie. Half way through the film he delivers one of the most moving monologues I've ever seen on film.
If you haven't seen it then get now on Netflix.
